projects past

These are pics of some of my projects of the past.  I learned a tremendous amount from these projects.  Through my experiences I've decided to stick to carpentry and woodworking projects.  They are what I enjoy most.  I would like to focus on built-in cabinets, book shelves, entertainment centers, etc.  However, if a project interests me...I love to learn.

My own kitchen remodel - I gutted my kitchen, took out a wall, and renovated my entire kitchen.  It was truly a HUGE endeavor.  We ate out for a while. :)

Highlands N.C. - A beautiful new house in the mountains of N.C.  I made almost every countertop in the house out of concrete.  They were beautiful, and the job was huge.  Too huge.  It almost killed me.  Biggest lesson......always write it out in a contract.

Bathroom remodel - My wife's townhome.  Bathroom was outdated.  I did the countertop, plumbing, electrical, floor tile, shower enclosure,....everything.  She loved it.

Pottery Barn Dollhouse Bookshelf - I took a picture from a catalogue and copied it.  Mine is better built than theirs. :)

Entertainment center - My house now.  I made it look like it came with the house.  I matched the crown molding with the room, same color as the trim.  I installed a theater system, running the wiring behind the molding.  I installed accent lighting in the top.  I made the doors frosted tempered glass for safety and accessibility.  The tv extends out so we can look directly at it while sitting on the sofa.

Guitar - Over the past few years I've been studying guitar.  This started as a 1937 Gibson L-00.  I changed several things on the plans to make it my own.  Although I made several mistakes, I figured them out, and with my own two hands made a pretty sweet sounding blues guitar!  My label is Bucket Guitars.  The bucket symbolizes my belief in music bringing joy to life.  I got this idea from "The Theory of the Dipper and the Bucket".

A little history

I started building things when I moved into an old small house 13 years ago.  It was old and termite damaged and after paying someone else lots of money to repair some of it, I decided I would learn how to do it myself.  Over several years I converted it from a 2 bdr/1bth to a 3 bdr/2bth, and later sold it for alot more than I bought it.  Since then I've been building all kinds of things, and this blog is my way of documenting the process.  I hope it will also be a way I can show potential customers some of my previous work.
